Rheumatoid Arthritis, also known as RA is an autoimmune process that leads to inflammation in the joint spaces.  It usually affects joints on both sides of the body.  Common joints affected include the joints in the wrists and hands, knees, and hips.  It very different from the more commonly known form of arthritis called "osteoarthritis".  Unlike osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis is more likely to occur in any individual regardless of age or injury.  In this condition, your body creates too much inflammation which starts to cause damage to your joints spaces.  The process can be very painful and significantly impact an individual's life.  However, symptoms of RA can vary significantly from one individual to the next.  Some patients may experience severe debilitating pain while others may have only mild symptoms.

Some of the first symptom of Rheumatoid arthritis often involves warm and painful swelling of the joints, most commonly in the hands and wrists.  If symptoms progress, you may begin to feel other signs of illness including fever, fatigue, and dizziness, as other organs in the body become inflamed due to the disease.

Unfortunately, there is no cure for Rheumatoid Arthritis, though symptoms can often be effectively managed through conservative and medical means.
